5k crypto prop firm challenges: what each one really costs
A 5,000 account costs $15 to $69 at the firms here. What each one includes, and the payout cap that decides whether 5k is worth it.
A 5k crypto prop firm challenge costs $15 to $69 at the firms here. Nineteen of the twenty-one publish a challenge at that size, one of them at the floor of $15 (AquaFunded), and the most expensive 5k challenge is $69 at Upscale. The fee is not the interesting number: what changes at 5k is the payout cap, the profit you need before a withdrawal is worth the gas, and whether the rules are the same as the larger tiers.

"Fee per 1% drawdown" is our own calculation: the 5k fee divided by the firm's published maximum drawdown. It is not a firm metric. For Traders publishes 3k, 6k, 15k, 25k, 50k and 100k accounts rather than a 5k, so its cell shows the cheapest size it does sell, tagged. Instant Funding also sells a 5,000 account as a IF Micro Lite product at $59; that is not a challenge entry, so it is not in this table.

Five crypto prop firms. Every one of them sells a five thousand dollar account. Breakout: twenty dollars. Bitfunded: thirty-nine. Crypto Fund Trader: forty. HyroTrader: fifty-nine. Upscale: sixty-nine. Same rule shape as the big accounts, a fraction of the fee. The catch is the payout cap: Upscale pays at most twenty-five hundred dollars on a five-K account. Every number traced to the firm's own page, at cryptopropfirms.com.
Why a 5k account is the sane first purchase
A 5k evaluation buys the same information as a 100k one: whether the firm's platform slips on a news candle, how support answers, whether the payout process matches the marketing, and whether you can hold the rules for the weeks it takes to pass. It costs a fifth to a tenth as much to find out. Sizing up before you have learned any of that is how traders lose a $500 fee to a firm whose rules they misunderstood.
The trade-off is arithmetic. A fixed fee against a small account means your first payout has to clear the fee before the challenge was worth entering, and the withdrawal minimum starts to matter: a $50 minimum against $200 of profit is 25% of the payout gone before it arrives.
What to check that the fee does not tell you
- Payout cap by size. Upscale, for example, allows a single payout of 50% of a 5k account: $2,500. Larger accounts get a smaller percentage but a bigger number.
- Minimum withdrawal. Breakout's is $50 after the split; others state theirs on the payout page rather than the pricing page.
- Whether the rules scale. Most firms publish the same drawdown and target percentages at every size, but some tighten the daily loss at the top of the ladder, not the bottom. Confirm at checkout.
- Verification. Cheaper challenges are not cheaper to verify: almost every firm here wants identity documents, some before activation and the rest before your first payout, and the firm that markets itself hardest as no-KYC, Upscale, still asks for a passport and selfie before it releases a withdrawal.
- Network fees. A USDT payout on Ethereum can cost a meaningful slice of a small withdrawal; prefer TRC-20, TON, Base or BSC where the firm offers a choice.
When 5k is the wrong choice
If you already know your sizing holds and you intend to trade one account for a year, the fee per dollar of profit is better at 25k and above, and the payout minimum stops being a rounding error. The 5k tier is a test of the firm as much as of you; once the firm has passed, pay for the size that suits your strategy rather than the one that suited your first month.
Common questions
- What is the cheapest 5k crypto prop firm challenge?
- $15, at AquaFunded. Next is E8Markets at $16, and the top of the 5k ladder is $69 at Upscale, all read from the firms' own pages.
- Are the rules the same on a 5k account?
- Mostly. Most firms publish the same drawdown and profit target percentages at every size, but a few tighten the daily loss or add a consistency rule at smaller sizes. Confirm on the firm's own terms before paying.
- Can I withdraw from a 5k account without KYC?
- No firm listed here is KYC-free. Every one verifies identity at some stage: seven before the first payout, thirteen before the funded account is activated and one publish no policy at all (AquaFunded). What varies is when the line is drawn, not whether it exists. Upscale's own site answers the KYC question with “No. Upscale does not require identity verification when you buy a challenge or when you request a payout”. Section 6 of its Terms of Use, last updated 15 May 2026, requires a copy of the passport photo page and a live selfie before any withdrawal, and holds the request in “Pending KYC” until it clears. The terms govern.
