Review
Kraken Prop review: 17 challenges compared, from $20
The safest counterparty in this comparison and a clean one-step rule set, at a mid-market price. The real cost is higher than the fee suggests: commission and daily funding are charged into the account and count against the limits.
Every figure below comes from Kraken Prop's own published terms, linked at the foot of this page. We have not traded this account and this is not a rating out of five.
The four numbers
- Cheapest challenge$20 for a 5,000 account$3.80 per $1,000 at the $25k size
- Profit split80% (90% add-on)$106 of profit to clear the fee
- PayoutsTypically 12 hours, guaranteed within 24USD to your Kraken wallet / USDG to your Kraken wallet
- Drawdown and rules3% max drawdown and 3% daily (Advanced)$750 of room on a $25k balance
Every figure in this panel comes from Kraken Prop's own pages, linked in the sections below. Where a firm publishes nothing, this says so rather than filling the gap.

Every plan, at every size
Three plans (Advanced, Intermediate, Starter) across six wallet sizes: 17 evaluations in total, read from kraken.com/prop.
| Plan | Target | Daily loss | Max drawdown | $5k | $10k | $25k | $50k | $100k | $200k |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced | 9% | 3% | 3% static | $20 | $40 | $95 | $180 | $330 | $660 |
| Intermediate | 12% | 3% | 5% static | $33 | $65 | $150 | $280 | $545 | $1,090 |
| Starter | 10% | 3% | 6% static | $45 | $85 | $215 | $400 | $800 | - |
A dash means the plan is not offered at that size. Fees are the firm's list prices, before any checkout discount.
Measured per percentage point of drawdown at the $25k size, Intermediate is the best value at $30 per point ($150 for a 5% drawdown), against $35.83 for Starter ($215 for 6%).
The 90% split is a paid add-on costing 20% more on the fee, which is $4 on the cheapest evaluation. Because ten points of split only return a tenth of profit, that add-on needs $40 of profit before it has paid for itself - 200.0% of what the challenge cost.
Advanced: Tightest drawdown of the three, and the cheapest evaluation at every size.
Intermediate: Two percentage points more room and a higher target, at roughly 1.6x the fee.
Starter: Widest drawdown, highest fee, and not offered at $200k.
The rules that decide whether you pass
Kraken Prop runs a 1-step evaluation: hit 9% (Advanced) before breaching 3% max drawdown and 3% daily (Advanced). Leverage is Up to 5x on crypto and the account is traded on Kraken Pro web and mobile. 60+ crypto pairs on perpetual-style contracts are available, so the instrument set is broad enough that position sizing matters more than the rules do.
Two tiers: email and country to buy and trade an evaluation, full identity verification to open the funded account and to be paid.
“If you pass your evaluation without full verification, you'll be prompted to complete verification as part of the funded account activation process. Your funded account will not be activated until verification is complete.”
Source: the firm's own page, read 2026-11-08. Our classification: Before activation.
Two practical warnings for this structure. A 3% max drawdown and 3% daily drawdown (Advanced plan) is tighter than it looks: a 3% overnight move on a large position is normal in crypto and can end the account in one candle. And the profit split of 80% (90% add-on) applies to profit you withdraw, not to the account balance, so plan the first payout before you start rather than after you pass.
Payouts and verification
How it pays
Rails: USD to your Kraken wallet / USDG to your Kraken wallet
Timing: Typically 12 hours, guaranteed within 24
Minimum payout $50, credited as an internal transfer to your main Kraken wallet. There is no option to send straight to an external wallet. Getting it out is a second step, through Kraken's own withdrawal process rather than the prop desk: the same verified account, its own withdrawal limits ($100,000 in any 24 hours and $500,000 in 30 days at the standard verified individual level) and the withdrawal holds Kraken applies to recently deposited funds.
Before you request
Verification: Before activation - Two tiers: email and country to buy and trade an evaluation, full identity verification to open the funded account and to be paid.
Restricted: Canada, India, United Kingdom
Support: what this firm publishes about its own support - channels, stated hours, any response-time claim in its own words.
Confirm the settlement route and the minimum withdrawal on the firm's dashboard before you trade to the target; this firm pays through the rails listed under How it pays rather than in a token you nominate, so the route, not the split, is what turns a payout into a delay.
Strengths and trade-offs
What it does well
- Run inside Kraken Pro, so the counterparty is a 2027-vintage exchange rather than a new brand
- One phase, no time limit, no consistency rule and no minimum trading days
- Payouts reviewed in under 12 hours and guaranteed within 24, into your existing Kraken wallet
- Three plans per size: pay less for a higher target or for a wider 6% drawdown
What costs you
- 0.04% commission per side plus 0.033% a day in margin funding are charged inside the account and count against both loss limits
- No API access on evaluations or funded accounts, so every order is manual
- Not available in Canada, India or the UK
- Paying out is two steps, not one: the profit lands in your Kraken wallet and only leaves through Kraken's ordinary withdrawal process, under that exchange account's verification, limits and holds
- The 90% split is a paid add-on costing another 20% of the fee
What traders like, and what they don't
Trustpilot: no score published. There is no profile for the prop programme itself. The only Kraken profile on the platform covers the exchange: 3.2 from 9,438 reviews, 5,926 of them written in the last 12 months, and every review on it is about a Kraken exchange account, not about Kraken Prop. Checked 2026-11-04 - the review page. That page is theirs, not ours.
What traders like
- Positive reviews on the exchange profile praise named support handling business onboarding and account cases, and Trustpilot records the company as replying to 99% of negative reviews, typically within 24 hours
- Newcomers describe the exchange interface as easy to navigate, which is the same terminal a prop trader is handed
What they do not
- The recurring complaint on the exchange profile is accounts frozen or restricted with funds inaccessible: 3 November 2026 ('all of a sudden my funds are $0 all my coin holdings are gone'), 2 November 2026 (payments pending since 21 October, ticket 23105035) and 26 October 2026 ('I deposited $200 and the money is gone')
- Support delay is the second recurring theme, in reviews dated 26 October to 3 November 2026, and it is the last mile here: a prop payout settles into the Kraken wallet first and then leaves through Kraken's ordinary withdrawal process, under the same account restrictions
- No review on the platform is about the prop programme at all, so this profile cannot confirm or deny that a Kraken Prop payout was paid
These are reviewers' claims, sorted into praise and complaints, not our verdict: a complaint is not proof and a five-star review is not verification. Our own assessment of the terms is above, in What works and What costs you. Read on 2026-11-04; the sources are the firm's review page.
Who it suits, and who it does not
Suits: Kraken users who want a no-time-limit one-step evaluation on 60+ pairs without leaving the exchange.
Does not suit: Algo traders, and anyone in Canada, India or the UK.
How it compares with the rest of the list
At the $25k size Kraken Prop sits at $95 for its Advanced account with a split of 80% (90% add-on) and a 3% max drawdown and 3% daily drawdown (Advanced plan). The firms that undercut it charge less for the challenge but usually ask for a tighter drawdown or a one-step target, and the firms that publish wider room to trade ask more up front. If the deciding factor for you is the split rather than the fee, read the side-by-side comparison before choosing.

The rules that end accounts
Every firm here publishes a fee and a split. These are the terms that decide whether the account survives a bad week, taken from Kraken Prop's own rules page and quoted verbatim under the table.
| Maximum drawdown type | Static |
|---|---|
| Daily loss limit | 3% |
| Consistency rule | No |
| Minimum trading days | None |
| News trading | Allowed |
| Weekend holding | Allowed |
| Cap on a single payout | No cap published |
The limit is fixed at a set level below your starting balance. It does not change regardless of how much profit you make. On drawdown, from https://support.kraken.com/articles/maximum-drawdown-mdd-explained
Where a firm runs several plans with different rules, the field says so rather than picking the flattering one. "Not published" means the page we read does not say.
Position and per-trade limits
| Largest position | A maximum open position size applies per asset; the order is rejected with 'Your order would push your position in that market past the maximum notional limit.' |
|---|---|
| Risk per trade | Not published |
| Open positions | Not published |
| Hedging | Hedge Mode is enabled by default in funded accounts: a long and a short may be open on the same instrument. |
| Bots and EAs | No API access on prop accounts: all orders are placed manually. |
| Other limits | Leverage capped at 5x for BTC and ETH, 2x for every other asset. |
